Privacy Policy
Synkin is a private space for couples and close family who live apart. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it. Synkin is operated by Arbaz ("we").
In short: no ads, no tracking, no selling of data. What you share is visible only to the people in the circles you choose.
What we collect
- Account: a Sign in with Apple identifier and, if you allow it, the name Apple shares. We don't ask Apple for your email address.
- Profile: your display name, photo, optional city, time zone and the emergency number shown in the app.
- What you share: posts, photos, stories, replies, reactions, chat and direct messages, voice notes, check-ins (status, mood and notes), answers to daily questions and photo requests.
- Location (optional, off by default): your precise location when you turn on location sharing, send an SOS, or create a time-limited live link; a Home place and arrive/leave events if you set one up. You can pause or stop sharing at any time.
- Device: a push-notification token, and your phone's battery level and charging state, which circle members can see.
- Settings: check-in times, reminders, arrival timers, notification preferences, and people you've blocked or reported.
Photos are re-encoded before upload, which removes their location metadata. Synkin has no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
Why we use it
Only to run Synkin: to show your circle what you share, deliver notifications, send check-in reminders and alerts, power safety features (SOS, live links, arrival timers), keep the app secure, and act on reports. We don't use your data for advertising or tracking, and we don't sell it.
Who can see it
- Your circles: members of a circle see your profile and what you share with that circle. Circles are invite-only and hold up to 12 people.
- Direct messages: only the two people in the conversation.
- Location: only when you're sharing, during an SOS, or through a live link.
- Live links: anyone with the link can see your name, location and battery level until the link expires (1 to 24 hours) or you stop it. The live page loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives the viewer's IP address and the map area.
- Our service providers, who process data only to run Synkin: Supabase (database, file storage and server functions), Apple (Sign in with Apple and push notifications; notification text passes through Apple's servers) and Cloudflare (invite and live-link web pages).
We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
How long we keep it
- Stories disappear after 24 hours and their photos are deleted shortly after.
- When you delete a post, its text and photos are removed; an empty placeholder keeps replies in order.
- Unused invites are removed 7 days after they expire.
- Everything else is kept until you delete it or delete your account.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to You → Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, posts, stories, photos, voice notes, messages, check-ins, location and settings, and removes you from your circles. Direct message threads you're part of are deleted for both people, and replies others made to your posts are deleted with them. Stored files are removed from our storage within about 15 minutes.
Your rights
You can see and edit your information in the app, download what you've shared by saving it from the app, and delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live (for example under the UK or EU GDPR), you may also have the right to access, correct, export or restrict the use of your data, and to complain to your data-protection authority. Children
Synkin isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

If we make important changes, we'll update this page and tell you in the app.
